An Apology to Corey Feldman: Recognizing the Courage of a Voice Long Ignored

As a survivor of abuse, I intimately understand the anguish of having your truth dismissed and the isolation of standing alone against a tide of disbelief. Corey Feldman has borne this burden for far too long. Today, as we finally begin to acknowledge the horrors he has long exposed, I feel compelled to offer a heartfelt apology.

Now, as others share their truths through memoirs alongside the release of the documentary “Quiet On Set,” shedding light on the harrowing experiences of child actors, the world confronts a stark reality: Corey Feldman was right all along.

To Corey Feldman,

I, along with the world, owe you an apology.

For years, you stood as a solitary voice in the tumult of Hollywood, courageously speaking out against the pervasive culture of abuse that has plagued the entertainment industry for decades. Despite your unwavering resolve, your cries for justice fell upon deaf ears, dismissed by a society that favored silence over uncomfortable truths.

I know firsthand the pain of baring your soul, only to have your words fall on deaf ears. I understand the frustration of being blamed for the abuse or made to feel as though it didn’t happen the way you said it did, urged to maintain peace even as your spirit screamed for justice.

But as the truth emerges from the shadows, we recognize that by silencing your voice, we perpetuated a culture of complicity that allowed abusers to flourish unchecked.

As a society, mere words of apology are insufficient. We must take decisive action to ensure the voices of survivors are heard and perpetrators are held accountable. We must dismantle the structures of power that enable abuse, replacing them with systems rooted in transparency, empathy, and justice.

Corey, we stand with you now as allies in the fight for truth and accountability. Your courage in the face of adversity serves as a beacon of hope for all who have suffered in silence. Your unwavering determination to seek justice inspires us to confront our shortcomings and strive for a better tomorrow.

With humility and solidarity,

Kristy
