Finding Silver Linings

Hi, I’m Kristy! And I want to tell you a story…

I am an encourager. I strive to encourage others to see the good in the bad. 😃 You might say I find silver linings, or at least I share the silver linings from my experiences to help encourage those I encounter.

Ever since I was a child I’ve always been a free spirit who seeks to see the good in bad situations. Not to say I didn’t have days or maybe even weeks where I felt like the world around me was caving in at times, I had those days for sure, I just always managed to find my way back to a perspective of beauty.

I truly am called to be an encourager. My pastor, Craig Groeschel, at Life.Church wrote a book and a study called Chazown (Hebrew for vision). Through the Chazown study, you process the timeline of your life and identify the events, good and bad, that have made you into, well you. Once I completed my timeline I worked through identifying how my life experiences translate into my purpose/vision in life. It all kept coming back to my ability to find the good even in the toughest of times. To encourage others to see the good in the bad by sharing my story.

I haven’t gone back through the Chazown process since 2016, but as I look back over my timeline I realize that I kept some of the bad pretty lowkey. As if it wasn’t really “that bad”. There are 2 sides to why I don’t think I saw them as “that bad”. One being my almost annoying level of optimism and positivity and the other being that I didn’t actually think I was worth feeling the pain. That is the first time I’ve actually recognized and said that; not feeling worthy enough to actually feel the pain of the moment. More on that epiphany later…

Before I go into the deep dive of unpacking all the nuggets I’ve learned over the years (36 years to be exact) I should probably give you more insight into who I am and what I want to talk about on this blog. I plan to tell you a series of stories, not of unfortunate events 😉, that have made me who I am and set me on the trajectory to help others heal. It has been heavy on my heart to reach out to others who are or have experienced similar storms. When I hear of someone going through a struggle that I am all too familiar with my heart breaks. I want nothing more than to take their pain away, however, I know that through pain can come great purpose. I don’t just want to share with you the hard parts of my story though, that would not do it justice, I want to share with you how beauty came bursting out at the seams of those struggles.

Hi, I’m Kristy! And I want to tell you a story…
